Decanter Centrifuges & Turn-Key Plants for Solid-Liquid Separation

HILLER welcomed our sales partner, HUBER Italia, to tour the Munich 1 Gut Großlappen wastewater treatment plant in late September 2025. There, the excess sludge from the biological treatment stage is efficiently thickened using our DecaPress 764.

The project began in 2019 with a preliminary test using a mobile centrifuge to test the advantages of mechanical sludge thickening and disintegration. The results were very convincing: higher dry matter content in the thick sludge of 8-10% TR, better pumpability, a more stable digestion process and, in addition, significantly lower polymer consumption compared to static thickeners.

Based on these successful trials, HILLER won the subsequent tender, and since 2022, the DecaPress 764 with a capacity of 80 - 140 m³/h in container design has been successfully in operation. The existing pump system can easily convey the sludge, thickened to 8-10% dry matter, over a distance of 500 metres to the digestion towers.

Disintegration using Hiller's lysate technology reduced viscosity and pump pressure by approx. 30-40%. This meant that the existing pumps could continue to be used.

HUBER Italia visit at the Munich plant provided exciting insights into practical applications and demonstrated how HILLER technology makes sludge treatment more efficient, flexible and sustainable.
